Winchester Aerobics is a fitness organization established by Judy Whitney back in the 80s. Almost thirty years later, the program is effective, varied, safe and innovative. Winchester Aerobics offers courses through the Winchester Recreation Department and the Jenks Senior Center in Winchester. Both Judy and group instructor Gail LaRocca are guest instructors in other programs. There is something for everyone in the Focus on Fitness program offered by Winchester Aerobics. Cardio workouts are balanced with muscle conditioning, stretching and relaxation regimens. There are morning, evening and Saturday classes to meet your varied schedule. Build strength so that you have the freedom do any activity you wish! Focus on Fitness ~ Focus on YOU • Muscle Conditioning • Aerobics • Yoga • Pilates • Step • Zumbaerobics •
With years of fitness experience, Judy and Gail are experts on body mechanics, physiology and performance, and are mindful of individual needs in a group setting. There is challenge in their classes but it is an atmosphere that allows people to modify their workout. People who are avid daily cross-trainers work out next to people returning from rehabilitation; both types of people get what they need. Winchester Aerobics also teaches Muscle Conditioning classes at Jenks Senior Center where seniors are encouraged to remain vibrant, both physically and mentally. Judy and Gail have found that their participants can keep up with many of the younger students in their other program! Babysitting is a available three mornings a week to give moms a chance to exercise while their children play in a nurturing, safe environment in the next room with our veteran child assistant Lorraine. Moms and dads get an hour to themselves, and have a chance to form new friendships with other class participants.
Group fitness has been the program hallmark but Judy recognized that some individuals want specialized assessment and programming and she offers personal training in the home environment.
